I do an office purge every year. Fall is a great time because it focuses you to rock it before the end of the year. Then in February it is so easy to box up the prior year’s paperwork and prepare for taxes. Then I do a really BIG purge about every 3 years. It always amazes me how much I accumulate and how much I keep that I should get rid of sooner.
We all do it. Buy a thing for the thing. Then we use what we need or stop using the thing, we just keep it. You know what I mean.
You get a table for the printer. Then that printer dies and the new printer is so much smaller, you can put it somewhere else but you keep the original table. More places to pile stuff. This is also why so many people have 2 drawer file cabinets. It was a great place for the printer.
When I transitioned from one business to another it was like the changing of the seasons. I get excited about all the things that are changing. This time about 90% of the paperwork is going. New business, new mindset. When I am shifting focus, I need to purge to make way for the new systems. Maybe your business is ready for an update. That may be what you need to rock your last quarter of the year!
What is the Number One reason you think you have too much stuff in your office or home?
Do you NEED all that? It is possible, no, probable, that overwhelm is holding you back from your dreams.
Once you’re surrounded by things that support you and your dreams you can feel the power of what this will do in your life.
You will see your vision for your business more clearly.
Can you hear yourself saying, “My dreams are coming true!”
Visualizing your dream business will be so easy in a space designed to match it.
If you truly use or love something, keep it. The rest can be donated or recycled. Doesn’t that make more sense than having stuff that is there because “you can’t get rid of it”?
Ready to get started clearing the space for your vision?
Scheduling two-hour segments to create a fabulous space with systems to support your growth allows you plenty of time to keep working on your business! It is great to have at least 2 two-hour segments per week so the progress keeps you motivated. If you can spend longer you can, but my experience has been that you can get overwhelmed if you think you’ll spend 6-8 hours all at once. The time between appointments gives you time to think about what you want, what your vision can be, and process the details in your mind.
Keep asking yourself (even make a sign or sticky note) “Should it Stay, or Should it Go?” for everything you touch!! By answering this over and over, it will get easier, and your business will transform!
